Almond milk is a great substitute to dairy milk, and in Ayurveda it’s got Ojas qualities (life-sustaining vitality that promotes immunity in the body).
Personally I avoid if I can commercially sold almond milks as they are full of synthetic chemicals that stress your immune system.
It’s SO easy to make your own almond milk and it’s full of goodness (enzymes, good fat, protein …)
50 gm almond (soaked 3-24 hours optional but it will get rid of enzyme inhibitors, which is always a good idea)
300 ml filtered water
Rinse almonds well and blend 1-3 minutes until smooth and creamy.
Strain mixture into a bowl through a nut milk bag/ muslin (you can use the pulp to make biscuits or crumble).
Pour into glass jar and store in fridge for up to 5 days (as it’s not pasteurised).
Optional: you can add 5 drops of stevia / pinch of salt/ honey/ maple syrup.
Easy, right ?!
