Why Therapy Doesn’t Work? ( With Practice )

May 17, 2025

After over 100 years of psychotherapy, are we really more well?We talk about our problems, dissect our childhoods, analyse patterns—yet our bodies still hold tension, our guts are inflamed, our sleep is broken, and our spirits are restless. This is because we’re treating the mind in isolation.Healing doesn’t happen in the head. Trauma is not just a thought — it’s a memory in the muscles, the fascia, the belly. It needs to be digested, shaken out, danced through, and breathed with. Ayurveda and yoga knew this. They speak to the whole being — gut, mind, senses, breath, soul. They work with food, routine, mindset, stillness, prayer, and movement. They help us embody peace, which is mental health.Healing asks us to look at our daily choices: how we live: our routines, our food, our movement, our relationships, and our sense of connection to something greater. Trauma is a memory stored in the nervous system — it needs to be moved, not just analysed. Less visiting it, more replacing it with inspiring, embodied memory.A Simple Practice:
Ask yourself: How am I participating in my healing, how do I care for myself?
Take inventory: What are you eating, how are you moving, what are you repeating, what uplifts you?
