Hello beautiful being.
Women after 40 begin to experience shifts in their health—hormonal changes, autoimmune disorders, and overall endocrine imbalances. These changes can be frustrating, especially when we’ve spent so many years caring for our families at the expense of our own wellbeing. The body’s signals become louder, begging us for care and attention.
A good place to start is our endocrine system, which controls your mood, hormone output, reproduction, mental functionality, and immune system. Rest is a big one!
Ancient health systems say that expressing ourselves authentically and living in alignment with our purpose brings ease and a sense of belonging and can help regulate our endocrine system. Today, studies show a direct connection to endocrine imbalances and the inability to be authentically ourselves.
*Simple practice below.
Being our authentic selves, how do we do that? When we’ve been trained for centuries to please others, to be what is lovable to others?
How do we know our purpose (our dharma) when unsure of who we are?
We go back to nature; it will remind us of our nature.
In nature, we don’t see the struggles with endocrine fatigue, addiction or depression. Animals are effortlessly in tune with nature’s rhythms, and we can, too.
Here’s a simple practice to regulate your endocrine system, clarify your dharma, and feel at peace with yourself.
Sometimes, most of the time, the way we get better is with consistent, simple practices.
Endocrine imbalance comes from feeling overwhelmed, multi-tasking, and simplicity is the medicine.
Try visiting the same tree or a body of water or watching a candle meditation (fire gazing) each day for 30 days.
Contemplate what your truth is; what is important to you? What do you want to protect and nurture? (all are qualities of dharma). What brings a sense of belonging? (it will usually feel safe and at ease in the body).
Then write 2-3 pages each day about your experiences.
After 30 days, something will start to percolate. Your hormonal system (which is directly affected by nature’s cycles) will feel more relaxed, your nervous system will start to feel more regulated, and your emotions will, too. Try it. It’s free.
This practice will also help you deal with family dynamics over the holiday season becase when you know yourself better; it will be easier to set boundaries, change patterns that are not helpful and bring more peace to your family becase you will find peace within yourself.
